These travel resources are everything I use to plan and travel in Mexico and anywhere in the world. They will also help you to find the best deals when planning your trip. I use them all on a regular basis and for me, are the best companies and websites to use.
If you're interested in learning some Spanish, also have a look through - How to learn Spanish - All the resources you need.
I only use World Nomads. The number one Travel Insurance company and also recommended by Lonely Planet. Don't leave home without it. It's a small price to pay for peace of mind and to know you are covered.

I still like to travel with a Lonely Planet guide book, even with all the information online these days. Easy to use, great maps and with lots of pictures. Either for the whole of Mexico or region specific.
When you're searching for a hostel, hotel, an apartment or a house, these 3 sites are the only ones to use.
From all inclusive in Cancun to budget hotels all over the country, Booking.com is full of hotels in Mexico. Has lots of great deals and special offers. And lots of reviews for you to read to help you choose the best hotel for your budget.
Hostelworld.com is the only hostel booking site I've ever used and will ever use. Lots of travellers leave their reviews for you to read and be able to choose the best hostels.
If you're looking to stay a bit longer or want to feel more at home in an apartment or house, airbnb.com can be cheaper than staying in a hotel. And more comfortable. If you aren't yet a member, sign up here for $20 off your first stay!
With so many options these days it's easy to get a little confused where to search. Sign up to the major airline newsletters to get the alerts for the latest specials and deals.
Skyscanner.com is the only search site that I use. It searches budget airlines which other sites don't. Lets you search by cheapest month, or even can search from one place to Everywhere. Giving you all the cheapest flights.
For people based in the States, Kayak.com is only used for flights leaving the USA. It searches through 100's of travel sites and is a good place for booking flights and hotel packages.
Tours are great for the solo traveller and for those looking for smooth travel without having to organise anything.
A trusted company with local guides, Intrepid Travel has a huge range of tours in Mexico and into Central America anywhere from 4-58 days. Including...

Yucatan Explorer - 9 days

There are lots of opportunities to volunteer in Mexico once you arrive through word of mouth and for free. But there are two main websites with a wide variety of volunteer options.
wwooflatinamerica.com connects you with local organic farms in exchange for free accommodation and sometimes food.
Workaway.info Connects you with a wide variety of volunteer opportunities from working in hostels, retreats, small communities, construction. Basically everything and anything.
Some (not all) links on this page, at no extra cost to you will result in me receiving a couple bucks commission. Which all goes back into keeping the page running. So if you want to help the MexicoTrippa page out, you can come back to this page to book your accommodation or travel insurance any time you like.
Or if you go shopping with Amazon US, you can use this link too.
As always..... Happy Travels!!
